Russia: Police sell security camera data to hacker

About 175.000 cameras CCTV are currently installed on Moscow, for security reasons. Of these, over 4.000 cameras are located in central areas of the city and as stated by the mayor of its capital Ρωσίας the 2017, 3.000 cameras have the face recognition technology of the goverment.

As he says website of the city's surveillance system, data collected by CCTV cameras are accessible to employees of federal government agencies, the mayor of Moscow, law enforcement agencies and enforcement authorities.

Someone who wants to watch live what a surveillance camera captures, receives a unique link to their surveillance site government. He has to enter credentials to be able to see the live stream.

The link ends automatically after 5 days, which is the period during which security camera material is stored from the city's central points, according to the official website.

According to the research, the site credentials are available for 30.000 rubles or 470 dollars.

There are several buyers available online who are interested in this data. Most of the illegal sites and forums where the data is available can be easily found by search engines, making it very easy for sellers to find the right people to sell them.
